I was referred to this website from another forum member: www.********.com
Boy, I was glad to come across this website since I was shopping around for a good case. Long story short, I purchased a Javo Clearcase by ********.com. This clear case is high quality with many easy accessibilities in mind for the Zire 71 users.
So, if you are like me shopping around for a good Zire 71 case, I would definitely recommend you check out www.********.com.
Catch you all later... :P
Bye!

AAARRRGH! I was trying to stop buying cases, at least until I got rid of the ones I've bought and won't use...
But I LOVE clear cases, I LOVE hardshell flip cases, and I am a sucker for prices that seem low (under $25).
Must resist... (resistance is futile) Must resist!!
Maybe I can hold off until someone buys one and posts their review!

Madkins,
Ha!Ha!Ha! "We are the cases! You will be assimilated! Resistance is futile!" No, I am not buying another case from you!:p
(I have to admit, this new one is tempting....)

I have this case and it gets an A+ in my book. I was surprised at how light it is (I really don't like how my old aluminum case was so heavy). As far as strength, it withstood my stupidity by dropping it out of my unzipped backpack the other day. I guess my favorite thing about this case is that it protects my zire really well especially the screen while it weighs next to nothing. The price is right too since I bought their Javoscreen protector too and saved some shipping. Anyways both products get A+'s and they have a friendly staff... one that didn't get annoyed with my million emails i sent them about the case before i bought it.
I can't seem to get the link to work? Why not?

Works fine for me. Make sure you take the "." off the end of it.

(Sitting on my hands (making it DARN hard to type), trying to keep from hitting the link and grabbing my credit card!)
Someone post another review!

That does sound cool -- the only thing I noticed was that the jog stick is not covered -- one of my problems is the jog stick turning the unit on accidently while in my case.

actually, the case creates a big enough indentation around the joystick so that it wouldn't get moved easily... i know what your talking about, i had that same problem when my zire was in my backpack, but now it doesn't turn on like that anymore.

Hey, how well does the port for the stereo headphones work, to those who have this case?
I see that it has a cut out for the jack, but it looks like it might not be too friendly to all headphone jacks.
Thanks.

I have now 4 cases for my Zire 71...and I love the feel of the leather. and like the protection of the Neoprene...I am selling all 4 of my extra cases if anyone is interested...I think I will try this clear case, but for my other PDA.
I have the flip over top leather, the classic open book leather, the Neoprene(its used), and the Aluminim. They are all new except for the neoprene(NOT the BodyGlove, this one fits snug by ErgoGear).
email me if you are interested palmpirate1@hotmal.com
Wanger,
Since you have the case, what type of hinge does it have?
Is it a plastic flex hinge?
Does the cover flip all the way to tha back so it is flat?
Thanks,
jvp

it has a double plastic hinge, the hinge design is like the hinge on your doors in a house but it is made of plastic. one of the hinge connects the bottom of the case to a small plastic spacer piece and then the other end of that piece is connected to the cover with another hinge. so a cross sectional view of the top of the case looks like this:
----------------- <-- hinge
|...................| <-- plastic spacer
----------------- <-- hinge
I don't quite understand what you mean by the cover being flat.. but from a cross sectional view from the side of the case looks like this:
--------------------------- <-- cover
||||||||||||||||||||||||||| <-- PDA
--------------------------- <-- bottom
So i guess from what i understand of your question it is flat. the case is totally flush with the shape of the Zire.
hope this helps.

And adding the usual question...
Can you cradle-sync with the case on, or do you have to take the case off? (Or otherwise get a sync cable?)
Also, just how "sturdy" is the plastic? How does it compare with the plastic cases Palm makes?
*giggles at madkin's desire to obtain yet-another-Palm-case*
(Hey, if it weren't for you, we wouldn't have such a great independant reviewer for cases.) :D

I don't like it much for several reasons:
1) You can't grab your stylus with the case closed and when opened its quite difficult to smoothy remove it.
2) I don't feel the method the Zire 71 is retained in the case is very dependable. You place your unit into the case and push down where as two plastic "nub" click into the rectangular holes in the back of the Palm.
3) You cannot Synch while the unit is in the case (but in all fairness I haven't discovered one that does yet.
4) No storage for extra SD Cards.
5) Lastly its a flimsy design and I feel it kind of cheapens the appearance of the Palm.
I use a case from Innopocket ... www.innopocket.com and its the best unit I've found yet.
Good Luck

Mark824- is this based on actually trying a case, or from what you see in the website?
For me, the lack of SD cards is the biggest red light keeping me from getting one.
Stylus access is an important consideration, but when the case is closed, I actually prefer that the stylus be covered- just that much more protection for the PDA.
Your comment about syncing in the case- you can do this with the Bellagio and Sena cases, but I have not heard of any hard case yet that lets you do this (and the PalmOne plastic case doesn't even let you cable sync in the case!)
Your comment about the flimsy design is the key point I am interested in- is this based on actual use, or deduced from the photos?

I purchased the unit and sent it back within a day.

i guess this is a battle between plastic and metal. seems like if your into metal then innopocket is the one for you. but i personally like the "clear" aspect of a case, i just want to see everything :D so in my case, ******** is for me.
some things to consider before buying a case:
weight
strength
accessibility
visibility
style
and most of all price.
those are my critieria so ******** wins the weight, accessibility, visiblilty, price and style (for my taste).
just my 2 cents hope that helps you all to decide.

how long do you think it will be before the plastic case is coverd in little scratch marks, and soon blurring your screen.
I have the aluminim case and use a Hotsynch cable that came with a USB car charger. It gives me SD access, and Stylus access, since I have a 3in1 stylus nd like access to the stylus, I like open. In fact I think the style could be designed in an exaggerated way so you can flick it out easier.
The Aluminim case is working for me great...I just dont think it protects as well as the Neoprene cases in case of a drop, since this case is so snug on the unit with the Back locked into place using the hinge holes.
If you would like a leather or Aluminum case I have a few on hand from overseas, even leather ones. Im not a dealer/seller/rep..etc, but I am a beta tester can have a bunch of cases for different models I have tested. I can email you pix...let me know

My case arrived misassembled. The top piece that fits over the top of the Zire 71 was assembled backwards. The hole for the earphone was on the opposite side and the stylus port was partially covered. I wrote ******** and they immediately responded and have sent me a new clear case at no cost.
Great case...great customer service.
The case is great. Light weight. Looks good. I've no problem synching using my portable cable and the locking mechanism on the back secures my pda effectively.

oh ok, yes the case sits perfectly flat when you flip the cover around.
THIS CASE IS EXCELLENT! After seeing it mentioned here, I bought it because my zire kept turning on in my pocket, draining the battery, then crashing. (It did this repeatedly, and palm was none too helpful...) Eventually I figured out that it was the power button, not the joystick, that was the problem, as the joystick will only keep the power on for 2 minutes. This case seems to have solved my problem, and looks lovely. The only downside is that it is difficult to get the stylus out. thanks for the tip!

very simple software (freeware) that allows you to disable or double click to enable your Palm, so it doesnt get turned on by mistake..called "Disable".
I have 3 extra clear cases if anyone wants one let me know. I also have a few leather and hard alum cases...a couple are already up on ebay, and the rest will go up very soon. Then I will have no more since these are for testing and have no use for them anymore.
email me if you would like cases or metal stylus(with pen/reset).
