Update went quickly and well.
The Topo map contour lines are now well colored and easily read. They have also added compression to the voice recorder, but no improvement in quality. I think part of it is the tiny marginal microphone.
The only problem I had was with Sheets-To-Go. After the update and restore, when I launched Sheets it would reset the unit. I simply reloaded the App from Documents-To-Go on the PC and it again works well. Other changes seem to be more subtle. I never had hard resets or MP3 problems, to improvements there may go unnoticed.

That's great .. ugh.
I lost ALL my waypoints after the update. They didn't restore after the hotync either.

If you restore to the old user name that had all the waypoints, they should restore back with no problem. Are you sure you are using the old user name?

Yup .. didn't work though. I'm entering them all manually again.

That is really weird about the waypoints. I had added a bunch of waypoints for geocaching and after the second hotsync under the old username they all came back.

Mine are all there, too. And I was able to set a waypoint using the Find function (which didn't work before) on my brother's address in Boston. Kewl!

I had one program (FemDays) do a soft reset immediately upon launch, so I reinstalled it from the .zip file and it worked fine. Pocket Lingo Pro came unregistered, so when I went into HanDBase to get the registration code, I found the database I had just spent a couple hours on was clobbered, nothing was in it anymore!! GRRRR. Thank goodness I had backed up to my card, too, so I restored it from the card.
So check all of your third party programs to make sure nothing got clobbered. Not too much of a pain if you catch it before you want to use it.

Seem to work fine here. Except I had to reload the basemap. When I tried to set new location manually all I got was the grid. Will have to try to delete and reload. I have tried just the basemap, but now I will try both the basemap and the detailed maps. Joy.
Also still got the modem screech!

Info on the modem screech was non existant on the release notes so I don't think it was addressed. I have wrote to garmin and I suggest others do the same. I know it is a big deal on this forum, but not enough people may be writing to Garmin about it.
No screech for me yet since the update, but it had only happened to me once prior so I don' know..

Elevation abnormalities seem to be fixed, at least at my location.

I get a "Patch not installed: Bad ROM version." screen when I do a soft reset even though the version data tells me that it took (v.5.2.1r2) and all the upgrade features are there.

I had the same problem so I did another hard reset then I made sure to remove from my backup folder the Garmin iQue 3600 Rel 1 Patc.prc that was still there and the BigDALPatch01 file then I did my hot sync.

My ique is on repair so I can't update. But I just wonder, did Garmin go through all this steps for the update and still not handle the rel 1 patch.prc?

Thanks. My problem has caused by doing Checklist Step 13 before Step 12. Not a Critical Error - just an annoying one that fortunately was easily fixed.

Sheet ToGo. The information I had, simply disappeared, and could not rescue. As I was aware of that after a second HotSync, could not restore the backup, a pity.

I just returned from a trip I make everyday. One section of the route climbs the side of hill with a heavy tree coverage over the road. In the past I have invariably lost GPS reception through the area. Today, after the update, I did not lose reception on either the trip down or back.
I've also noticed about 50% more satellites displayed than before and the bars, on average, are higher. Garmin seems to have improved the GPS tracking with the update.

I got the modem screech today while viewing a detailed map. It stopped after about 45 seconds. It was also the first time in weeks it happened.

I haven't done the upgrade but did send in my unit as the voice kept disappearing and I could make it do it by turning off the unit and back on then I would have to do a soft reset to get the voice back. They wanted it sent in so I did and now since getting it back I have had 4 hard resets and 3 screach problems. Now today I went on a trip and it wouldn't acquire satalites and I hard reset it and when I got home I did the sync and when it is done it does a hard reset all by itself and I can't get anything out of it except it is as it came from the factory. I will call Garmin first thing Monday morning. BUMMER.

Tried to use my Palm Modem for the first time today after applying Update 2 and and I got a "Error: modem not found (0x1106)". I hope Garmin didn't forget to apply the modem fix in update 1 to Update 2. Anybody else have similar problems?

UPDATE:
Last night, for no apparent reason and without doing anything different, the Palm Modem connected and has been working fine ever since. Go figure.

Since R2, while following a route, I periodically get the message "off route, recalculating". Since I am on the route, it simply updates the current route info. Happened three in last two days, different routes. Annoying at worst.
