I've been emailing with SonyEricsson support for a while asking about Ir-connecting between those devices.

Ericsson says You Can Not connect them and go surfing, anyone who has managed to do it?

Can you use GPRS?

Any other known problems or ideas?

I suspect the real problem is that SonyEricsson don't want to get involved in providing technical support for the MC218 which is no longer part of their current product range.

In general, there really shouldn't be a problem connecting with a phone which has an IR port and built-in modem.

Yes, you can use GPRS if you can get the configuration sorted out and if the network allows GPRS to be used for full Internet access and not just WAP.

I use GPRS with my MC218 and Ericsson R520m, which is a similar phone to the T68 and settings should be the same. Works just fine with regular GSM connection too.

Without knowing your location, network etc, it is difficult to advise, but if you care to post more detail I will try to help.

My settings for the UK's o2 network are on Mike's website - URL above in his sig - along with other settings for different phones and networks.

Unfortunatelly it still doesn't work!

I began trying to use the same settings as worked with Siemens S35i and Nokia 8210 but they don't work with Ericsson T300.

I can connect to the internet, but no matter what web-adress i type I get the error-message "time out" after some time

OK, create the file path C:\Logs\Etel\ and then try to connect again. There should then be a GSMTSY.txt log file in the Etel folder which might give a clue to the problem.

Also, in the Control Panel / Modems settings, try changing Modem Type in the Advanced tab from "Mobile" to "Fixed line".

Actually, come to think of it, it was an Ericsson support guy who spotted an error in the settings given to my by my phone service provider. He was the most helpful (the ONLY helpful) person in the whole GPRS setup process. O2 gave me WAP gateway settings instead of Internet.

That was Ericsson tech support (by phone) in the UK - this is why I was questioning your location, Carl. Admittedly, this was a few months ago, and I guess changes will have happened there in the interim.
