Living close to the huge fire in S. Cal, I turn on my GPS and I don't get as many satellite like I would normal do, and the reception is not as strong.. I wonder if this has to do with Sun solar flare or it's simply becuase the smoke is so thick above?

Sounds like all the smoke has blocked the satellite reception.
Stay safe now.

The sun has been very active recently and I think this has affected a number of satellites. More on it's way.

I live right in the middle of San Diego and even with the worst smoke (monday) my iQue worked okay. Well the release 2 made it hard to acquie sats at first, but maybe there is a slight signal loss.

There shouldn't be any signal loss with the thick smoke. The only thing that can block satellite signal is metal or wood. THick cloud cover does not hurt it. I have not heard any reports of the smoke having any effect.
