standard SD cards?

Can I buy standard SD memory cards for a Tungsten E or do you need to use the preformatted ones sold by Palm?

If you can buy standard cards do you need to format them? I know certain file types need to go into certain directories. I use an SD card reader to transfer files and create directories on my iPAQ SD cards (the Tungsten is my wife's) can the same thing be done with Palm OS?

I just bought a Lexar 256MB SD card and it works great in my T/E. I didn't have to format it, just plugged it into the slot.

I plugged in a 32mb ScanDisk card to use as a backup card and have been using it without any problems. I reformatted it, but it displayed the correct name that I had used before.
