Hello,
My mako is around 8 months old, but lately I'm facing battery problems.
My mako switches off suddenly, even when the charge indicator shows 70% etc. And then I can switch it on only after i connect charger.
And when I connect charger, immediately the charge indicator shows around 90% etc charge.
Now it is switching off at around 70%, a few days before it was switching off at 50%, and when i connect the charger, it immediately showed 80% etc charge and within 30 mins or 1hr it would reach 100%.
When the mako was new it used to be on till it reached 20% charge.
Please Help,
Thankyou.

I have exactly the same problem with my REVO.what is the solution?can anyone tell us?
how is revo plus compared to revo?are batteries changable by us?is it simple to just place new batteries or very difficult like REVO?
if I want to buy new psion product which one is better in respect of batteries,no problems whatsoever, user friendly?

the revo plus/diamond mako is exactly the same as the revo except it has 8 more megs of memory. the revo and revo plus both run on 2 AAA size NiMH batteries. these are located under the keyboard which is supposidly removable. personally i have never tried to remove my mako's keyboard but a guy's website (i don't know the exact site but in yahoo search for chasin recordings) shows or tells you how to do this.
cheers

To anyone with battery problems:
NiMH batteries are good, but can be a little finicky in regards to charging (as is any rechargeable battery). Do the following each time for good battery life:
1. Allow the Mako to run down as far as possible - until shutoff.
2. Connect power directly to MAKO and turn on.
3. Watch to see how the MAKO fash charges - it will automatically switch to trickle charge when necessary. Note the level on the meter at which it switches (I leave mine in today view while charging for easy monitoring).
4. Allow the MAKO to charge until the animated battery icon in the toolbar (beside the clock) stops moving. This will take anywhere from 6-6 1/2 hours from time when charging first started.
5. Check the battery mA. It should be charging at about 7-14 mA.
6. Only then will your MAKO be fully charged. Repeat this process each time you charge. It may take a couple of times for full capacity and battery gauge callibration to be corrected.
You can simple charge it overnight if you want.
Please keep me posted on your progress. The mako is a wonderful machine and needs to be given a correct labeling of its battery.
PS the site for changing the battery is www.portal-pda.com , you will see a column on the right with a link to info
