I started looking into geocaching thanks to some references made in this forum and discovered that there is some caching going on in my home town.

A basic question: Is it possible to directly enter coordinates into the Q? The manual doesn't seem to reference this subject. It appears that an address has to be entered first and then edited to enter a specific coordinate.

While viewing your map, tap the flag icon to mark a waypoint and give it a name. Tap "Edit...", then tap "Location", then tap "Show Info", then tap on the current coordinates, then tap "Manual" and then tap your foot and ask why in heaven they made it so hard to get to. ;-)

I like to keep all my geocache locations in my address book under the catagory quick list. I find this way a quick easy way to store locations by coordinates. Here is how I do it...

1. Click on address book
2. Click "new"
3. Enter name of geocache in the name fields, also I click on "note" and I put specific information about the geocache in there such as clues or instructions
4. Click on the icon at the bottom of the screen next to the house icon. This will bring up a menu. Click on "que", then "set location", then "manual". This will bring you directly to the screen to enter coordinates directly.
5. Click ok, then it will bring you back to the address book. Do not forget to click on the upper right hand side of the screen to put this address into a catagory where you want to store your geocache's seperate from your real addresses..

You are all set! This will save you a step or two and allow you to save your geocache's in one spot!

Hope this helps! Enjoy geocaching.. It is a great time! Jelly

I think that the first patch made this a lot easier.

Here is the way I enter new Geocaches. Go to the Address Book. Click on New. Write in the name of the Geocache. Click done. Click to the right of the Geocache name where the flag icon would be. This gets you to the Set Location dialog. Now click on Manual and write in the Lat/Lon. Adjust the preference in QueMap to match the format of the Lat/Lon you want to enter. That's it.

Takes lots less time than on my Garmin eMap. Typing with only one thumb takes a while.

Rich36,

In case you missed it, the thread here (http://www.pdastreet.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27029) has a free program which will allow you to take waypoint info downloaded from geocaching.com and import it directly into your iQue. No having to type in the coordinates.

Thanks to all who replied. I think that I'll give it a try tomorrow when this rain lets up.
