I have two PCs one running win98se and the other running win2k. The problem is that my EPOC Connect software won't run on the Win2k machine. Connect is used to interface with my Osaris PDA (I know it's not a Psion but it is a Symbian PDA). The Osaris uses EPOC Release 4. Does anyone know of a suitable alt4rnative piece of software (PsiWin2.3?) that would connect my PDA?

With Windows 2000 you want the latest version - 2.3.3 - of PsiWin which can be downloaded from Psion's website.

Thanks for such a fast reply. I've heard various stories about PsiWin2.3.x and compatability issues with ER4. I'll download it and try it. Hopefully this will end my misery. Thanks again.

If you are uninstalling one copy or version of EPOC Connect / PsiWin and installing another, be sure to run the PsiWin Registry Cleaner after the uninstall.

I have just rebuilt the Win2k machine so that wasn't a problem. Have downloaded PsiWin2.3.3 and it works a treat. Wsa much easier to set up than the genuine Osaris version of EPOC Connect. Just plugged it in and it connected.
PsiWin seems to think that it is both an EPOC machine and a Psion Series 3. It gives me conversion options for all the series 3 programmes aswell as the EPOC ones that are installed. This isn't a problem as they are just set not to convert and as it won't fond them it wont cause any problems. Just wondering though, does that mean that I can run software designed for the Psion3 on my Osaris?

Just wondering though, does that mean that I can run software designed for the Psion3 on my Osaris? No, it means if you have a Series 3 machine as well, you can convert files such as Sheet, Data, Word from the Series 3 version to the EPOC version. Series 3 programs cannot run on an EPOC device.

Oh well. Never mind.
Thanks for the advice though, much appreciated. PsiWin is working perfectly. So much more reliable that EPOC Connect.
No sure if this will be picked up or not.
Is there any software out there which will make this gadget compatible with Windows Vista?
I've had my Osaris for years and it is by far and away the best PDA I've ever had and I don't want to have to bin it. :(
Cheers.

Mr. X--one of the previous threads in this PsiWin section http://www.pdastreet.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69246 shows that PsiWin 2.3.3 can make nice with Vista and ER3, ER4, and ER5 devices.
I would think that's all you need, since the file converters--back and forth to the desktop--should hold you in good stead.
