OS 3.5 for IIIx?

New to this forum ... you can tell by my user name.

Does anyone know where I can download OS 3.5 for my IIIx? I figure it should be a free download somewhere since OS 4.1 is available. I can find the patches but not the upgrade to download. Is 3.5 compatible with the IIIx?

Also, how do I increase the memory on the IIIx? I read somewhere that I can do that but it didn't say how.

You may have difficulty finding the Flash upgrade. Or should I say you have had. It was available on the Palm.com site. I would start there.
There is an upgrade memory board that was made by TRG, now known as HandEra. Their board would take you up to the 8mg found on the IIIxe. I would suggest you start with HandEra.com. Also check Gethightech.com, they often have these boards.

I have asked Palm that very question and as soon as they reply, I will post their response. I've searched Palm's site, and like you, I find the patches and the full 4.1 downloads.

What version OS comes stock with an IIIx? My IIIxe ( I have 2) came with 3.5. My friend's Palm IIIe came with 3.1. I have a Palm Pilot Professional that has had the ir/2mb card installed which now makes it a III (v. 3.0.2). I also have a stock Palm Pilot Professional, but I have no idea how to find the OS version. I've checked all the apps and their "about" selections and they come up v. 2.0, so I am guessing that the OS is also v 2.0.

If my memory serves me well the IIIx came with 3.1 and I think the first batch of IIIxe unit may have had 3.1 but that I am not sure. The upgade from 3.1 to 3.5 was a flash upgade then came the patches to 3.5 to take it to 3.5.3 there were also serial drivers included.
