I've been thinking about upgrading to WinCE ver 2.0; does it require extra memory? When I go into 'System Properties' it says I have 8060 KB, is that enough? I been having a lot of fun loading utils and games and then taking them off. I've found a lot of good stuff that needs WinCE 2.0 and I can't use them. Any ideas about what I should I do? Thanks for your time.

John,

Basically you need 3 items:

- a 8 MB DRAM memory card for the Velo (hard to get)
- a Windows CE 2.0 Velo upgrade chip
- Windows CE 2.0 upgrade software

For the memory upgrade you will have to take out a 4 MB DRAM card and replace it with the new 8 MB DRAM. Your total memory will be 12 MB. Without this extra memory Windows CE 2.0 will not work properly. Inserting a FlashROM card does not count by the way.

Before you upgrade, make sure all your outlook information is synched on your desktop and that you've made a copy of all your files. Upgrading your Velo means starting with a clean sheet.

- Replace the 4MB DRAM card with the 8 MB
- Insert the Velo CE 2.0 upgrade chip
- Install the upgrade software

And bingo, you have a Windows CE 2.0 machine.

I've done it years ago when I had a Velo 1. So I'm just winging the explanation. I now own a Velo 500 and a Nino 300.

I hope this info helps!
