I am looking at getting a handheld with a PCMCIA slot. I plan to put a 10/100 ethernet card in it. I want to be able to get my e-mail and surf the web. If possible I would like to be able to get to network drives.

Will my plan work? I see e-mail and web but always when talking about the modem. I travel to a bunch of different locations but they all have high-speed internet, I have no use for a modem. Anyone know of any handhelds that can, or can not do this?

Ethernet connection using handhelds has been available since Windows CE 2.0 and above.

All HPC models that are 2.0 and above can easily satisfy your need.
