Hi, can you Palm users out there please help me out... I'm an ex PPC & Symbian user who's never had Palm and I'm thinking of either buying a Tungsten or Treo 600 - using v.5.0

Calendar is very important to me - also the ability to sync with Mac... can you pls tell me... does Palm Desktop software have colour coding and/or categories for calendar entries?... (like iCal)

Can that colour coding and / or categories be maintained in the Palm device... I've tried to search everywhere on the web but there's no info and when I tried one in the shop I could only enter date entries to appear in the same single colour blocks on the week view.

I like PPCs 4 colour categories for IN, Out, Tentative and Free, plus I also like Symbian's 6 colour coding and modifyable categories which allow me to view the week entry blocks to see easily where the footy matches are, where I'll be out for a meeting, with somone, busy, when my wife's out etc etc

Help much appreciated.

The color coding is only present in Palm Tungsten 3 and Palm Tungsten E. That rules out the Treo 600.

By the way, if you buy DateBk5, the color coding in it is way better than the biult in datebook, Symbian or PocketPC datebook. Datebk5 is very powerful and inituitive.

CONVERT!

You'll find more options for almost anything you want (almost) and your "bang for the buck" will take a major step up the scale.

Just to much overhead with PPC, and (unfortunately) irritating problems that get resolved very, very slowly (the long term MS view).

Palm still rules the pda space.

I myself will ONLY use Palms, and I'll tell you why.

1. The sheer volume of apps(20,000+), many of which are freeware. Try finding that many cool apps for PPC.

2. Easy interface; easy installations & deletions.

3. Palm OS is highly customizable

4. Easy desktop syncing

And many more reasons which I am too damned lazy to type out now.

Actually, I'm a filthy rotten liar, b/c I just bought a Symbian smart phone tonight...
