I'm trying to decide on an mp3 player app for the iQue. Any comments on Aeroplayer vs. PocketTunes? To me, they sound the same, and seem to have the same functions, though they display them differently. Neither has been updated yet to minimize the virtual graffiti area.
I noticed in some old posts that some people had problems with resets with Pocket Tunes, but I think that was probably fixed with R2.
Anyone?

Well, if it matters, I've used Pocket Tunes with my Tungsten T since about April, the guy has constantly updated the program to either fix bugs, or improve it as newer Palm devices have come into the pipeline. Been very happy with it. I tried Aeroplayer(?) at the same time and didn't like it as much. I'm sure it has also been improved, but i gave up on it, so others will have to comment on it.
When I moved it over to my iQue, i personally never had a problem with it. Granted, I never play my MP3's and use the GPS at the same time, could be why i never had a problem. Between iPod, Nomad 3 and XM Radio I have enough choices for music that my MP3 on iQue/Tungsten T playing is usually done while waiting at the doctor's office or in line for the movies, places where the GPS is kinda pointless.

I tried both .. and went back to the stock iQue player. I really don't care about all the skin nonsense, and would rather see the full screen (more songs).

Thanks for the input. I'm glad to hear that Pocket Tunes doesn't necessarily cause resets (as a few older posts seem to indicate).
Bobby, the advantage of one of these programs is that you can have playlists, EQ, and even volume overdrive. Otherwise, I too would be happy enough with the Que audio program!

I know ... but until they go full screen ... I'll stick with the stock app. The shuffle feature is a good enough playlist for me :D

I like AeroPlayer's playlist feature.
On my Q I have Pop, Jazz & Blues, I have Country both contemporary and traditional and for some reason shuffling through these various genre's and listening to them all mixed up like that is just too wierd for me.
So I have my AeroPlayer playlists categorized so I can listen to music by what mood I'm in.

Bobby and to Sherio;
To each their own but what decided it for me was the versatility I have with PocketTunes. I like to be able to jog or ride a bike while using the GPS functions and listening to music. The GPS part not only tells me where I am and how to get back but how far I’ve gone and my speed. Due to different traffic conditions, meeting someone you know or which song happens to be playing, I find I am constantly adjusting the volume. Using PocketTunes you can use the jog dial without ever getting out the stylus and adjust the volume. This is the one most important feature I found missing in the standard Que Audio. You can also assign virtually any button on the IQue to bring up a mini ap over whatever you are currently looking at that allows most functions with a hit of your fingernail on a large button to pause, skip to the next song, etc. There are some great skins available (freeware) that make the player look fantastic so that the standard version seems like a black and white TV. OTOH, I don’t mind that it doesn’t go full screen, as it really is an audio not a visual medium that we’re using it for. I also like the ability to be able to play and have a separate play list for wave files that I copied over from my computer with my kids saying all kinds of stupid things. I use this to blackmail them with their friends when they won’t shut up...
As far as AeroTunes goes, I wasn’t able to get it to run on my IQue. I seem to be unique in this so I’m sure it’s a fine program also, it just didn’t work for me. As “Last Mrk” mentioned-having the ability to create play lists is also a plus esp., since I think it’s only a matter of time before many of us will have a separate SD card with just MP3’s on it and it may be useful to categorize to genre or mood.

I play MP3's exclusively in the car. I will say that I liked the *look* of the other apps .. but my eyesight isn't what it used to be, and I can see the B&W look of the stock application better. The fonts of the skins that I did try, were very hard for me to see in the car. It's not that I'm hung up on the full screen issue .. I just like seeing more songs without scrolling. When the others go full screen, I'll probably go with one of them.

Just curious, Curious Cat, but how do you carry your iQue when you run? I've been wondering how people do that.
And fyi, I believe that Aeroplayer also has the features you mentioned. Pocket Tunes seems to have a slightly better pricing deal, though, since you can get unlimited upgrades for only 19.95.
Bobby Soprano, I'll bet they upgrade these apps soon to accommodate the VG screen.

If there was one perfect solution for everyone, then we wouldn't have all these great choices and everyone would be driving the same yellow Volkswagen! This is one of those areas where everyone can see it differently and still be right. I’m just happy the MP3’s don’t cause the IQue to crash like it used to before the update.

Amen to that. My unit was useless for mp3's before the update. Although it's still a little picky with certain files ... it's a 99% improvement from R1.
PS: A perfect solution in my book wouldn't be a yellow VW .. I say black Lamborghini's for everyone! :D

I have PocketTune and I'm very please with their customer service. Whenever I have the problem with the PTune can't play some MP3 files, he will get it fixed and release a new version rightaway.

And to think that I wavered the last few days about the 19.95 price for the Deluxe version (which includes unlimited upgrades), so now it is 24.95.
Oh well, here goes another $25 thrown into the iQue money pit (not that I'm complaining... I love it all!)

Cool .. I downloaded the new version and tried it out for a few minutes. I'll give it a good test drive later. If it can handle the MP3's that the stock app *doesn't like* ... it'll be a keeper.

Have no fear-here's a quote from the developer:
Previous Customers: All previous customers who purchased 1.X or 2.X can download the latest version as a free upgrade.

Downloaded, tried, and deleted. Music doesn't mute during navigation (maybe I was expecting too much since this isn't a native app). I also refuse to deal with the nag screen every time I switch back and forth between the map while I'm driving. The less fussing with .. the better.
