Hey,
Has anyone seen a WiFi card for the SD slot? Or, does anyone know if the SD slot will ever be used for such a purpose?
I bought the 3870 hopeing that I would never need to use the sleeve for memory, eithernet etc etc.
ThankYa,
HH

I haven't seen a WiFi, but they do have a BlueTooth available. I would hope that they could make a WiFi in the future. I have the 3970 and would also like not to use an expansion sleeve unless I had to.

A bad news for you, the sd slot on the 3800 series is NOT an i/o slot therefore you will not be able to use something like an ethernet or wifi card even when they are available, it was designed for a memory card only. Good news is the sd memory card is getting cheaper and can now go up to 1gig in size.

So your saying that even if I can find an SD bluetooth card it won't work with the IPAQ slot?

Yes, that is correct, it will not work on ipaq 3800. However, if the manufacturer provides driver for it, it will work on ipaq 3950. The sd slot on 3900 is a SDIO slot.

There is a Secure Digital 802.11b card coming out soon by SanDisk using technology from SyChip. They are also making one with about 256 megabytes of built-in memory.
It is true though that the Secure Digital expansion slot will have to be SDIO.
