Tried to find Charlotte, NC on my iQue and it can't be found - at least under Cities category. I have the detailed map installed and checked/active with American City Select v5.0.

I can find all kinds of much smaller towns in the vicinity but not Charlotte. I see it on the map way down to street level.

Is it just me....????

The QueFind function is tied to the Basemap you have installed, and numerous larger cities appear to be omitted.

From a early thread on this issue, a reply by gpser said (edited):

"If you have the detailed City Select map for <your missing city> loaded, you can find it. But the device will look to the basemap for the Find City unless you tell it to do differently. Go to the find cities page. In the upper left, on the QueFind tab, tap it. Choose Select map...choose the City Select map...hit okay and give it another try."

1. Charlotte (600.000 people) is not on my Americas basemap (City Select Eu CDs)

2. How should I have known that the Quefind icon is indeed a tab and could be tapped? Because it is blue?

Hopefully they have updated the basemaps on the new City Select that they are sending out. This is a basemap problem so won't be fixed any other way.

Thanks! - I've tapped all over this iQue but it also never occured to me to tap the QueFind tab.

I guess there is no way to have the QueFind default to the City Select mapset other than delete the basemap??? Assuming you can delete the basemap.

I learned something today!!! How 'bout that!

Actually, it seems to be the other way around at least with the basemaps that came with City map Europe. When I go to Find cities and tap the Quefind icon (now known to be a tab), I'm given the choice to select a map. But it always start with the European city select (i.e. detailed maps). But I'm also given the choice of the three base maps that I have loaded to the card :
Atlantic, Americas and Pacific.

The next time I search, the detailed map is default again.

In this way, there isn't really a problem, as long as you know it. If I want to loook for a city in China, I have to shift to the Pacific basemap.

No reason to delete basemaps even if it can easily be done.

rwsmith123,

According to Garmin, there will not be any changes to the map data in the City Select North America V5.02 update. THe only changes are to resolve REGIONs map installation issues.

Charlotte can be found using QueFind.

Select Cities then select "By Name" then go to Options and tap "Select Map..." The default will be Base Map, Choose NA City Select v5.

This would imply that in the US, the base map is default in Que Find whereas it is the detailed map that is default in Europe.

Maybe it is so, I can't check since I don't have NA CS .
I know quite a few people have both. Would be interesting to hear what happens if you had detailed maps of some parts of the US and some parts of Europe together with all the three base maps (=World base map) Which map would be default in Quefind?
