Hi,
I have a Revo and a Series 5 which I am trying to synchronise to the one notebook. The Revo which is the first machine I connected has no problem. The series 5 either refuses totally or will sychronise Agenda but will not synchronise my e-mails. Can anyone suggest anything or is what I am trying to do not possible. Maybe my s/w or settings are wrong on the S5. As a side issue has anyone tried Intelisych I think it is called, I believe it allows the synchronisation of sub foders on outlook which I know is impossible on the Psion s/w.
Thanks,
Col.

Colin,
What version of Windows? What version PsiWin? Do you really have an S5 or a 5mx? If it's an S5, you can't syncronize e-mail with Outlook, only with a 5mx or Revo.
Intellisync does allow you to synchronize sub folders but not mail sub folders. It actually uses the PsiWin sync engine - it won't even work without PsiWin installed. With the sole exception of adding the ability to sync non-mail subfolders (which it will then promptly trash in Outlook) it has no advantage over PsiWin. It doesn't allow you to sync memos with Outlook Notes, one of the biggest deficiencies in PsiWin. It is orders of magnitude slower than PsiWin syncing the same amount of data. It will generally create duplicates and delete records for no apparent reason, even when you tell it not to in the never ending dialog boxes that you have to answer during each sync. I used it for one week and never realized what a good program PsiWin was until I had to put the mess back together that Intellisync created. :)

Thanks for the reply Jim. Yest it is a Series 5 and not an MX, I can see the big advantage of the MX now. I am using Windows XP & Psiwin 2.33 (Latest version). What I was not sure of was the software on the Series 5 and the versions I should have thinking that was the problem. I was not aware that it could not synchronise to Outlook for e-mails.
Oh well I guess I need to rely on both machines now, theRevo for e-mail etc and the 5 for everything else.
Re Intellisync I nearly bought it at 60 - 70 pounds and then thought better of it. I think that may have been a good move.
Again thanks for the help Jim, I need to play around with the machine now and get used to it or save up for an MX and sell the Series 5.
I notice on the Series 5 that the catch to hold the stylus in has been broken, is this repairable.

Are you certain that it is broken? If the stylus will not click back into place it may just be the latching mechanism which is stuck - it's a common problem.
The recommended remedy is to open up the cover over the RS232 port, then press down gently with thumbnail on the lip of the outer casing, just below the connector. Hopefully that should release the catch and all will be well!

Hi Julie,
It seems to be, I have tried what you suggested but it is still the same. I dont know how tight the stylus should feel but it seems very slack in the holder and nothing catches to hold it in place. Is there any way to take off tha back cover and inspec the catch or is this quite risky.

Julie,
You are a star, ctually I read your reply to another user and tried this tip but it did not work, I also back tracked and reas a reply from another contributer, I think it was Yen who suggested putting a knife in the gap between the case and the rs232 port. As soon as I had done this and moved it a few times the catch clicked into position. Once again thanks folks as I was sure I would loose the stylus somewhere. Now all I need is for someone to make the Series 5 synchronise e-mails and i would be in heaven. I believe i can download my e-mails via my mobile or the travel modem, is this correct?.

You most certainly can receive (and send!) e-mails via mobile phone or travel modem on your S5 - I used mine that way for a good couple of years before acquiring the netBook. The S5 doesn't support synchronisation with PC though, as Jim has already mentioned.
If true synchronisation is essential to you, then maybe you should bite the bullet and go for a 5mx. Otherwise, there are workarounds which can allow you to keep all your e-mail on both PC and S5.

Hi Julie,
Full synchronisation is not that despaerate if I could at least copy them over. I can always access new e-mails via my travel modem or phone if I need to. Is there a way around this without real synchronisation i.e. copy or whatever.
Any tips would be most welcome.

Thanks Mike, so the long & short of it is if I want my e-mail on the Series 5 I d/l it via the modem and that is it. to be fair that will not kill me, it would just have been nice to do it another way.
Thanx again,
Col..
