I have a Mako bought in the US (for 110V charger outlet). During a trip I asked my wife to charge it for me and she plugged it into a 240V receptacle with an adapter and no converter. All it took was one second and now it's dead. Any ideas as to how I can revive it? Is the battery fried?? Can the data be retrieved. I need to fix this great little machine. Any good advice from readers???

To me, it sounds like the batteries are probably fried.
The data is probably lost because the memory is RAM and requires the batteries charge to keep it refreshed. Once the batteries are dead, the RAM empties itself.
If interested in changing the batteries in the built-in pack, the following site has greatly detailed photos and at one point had battery packs that one could buy:

Look in the column at the right and you will see a link to the pages. It looks a little complicated at first, but with studying and a steady hand, one should be able to do it without problem.
Hope this helps.
