I have PsiWin 2.3.3 working fine under WinXP.
However, there are a few annoying things that I would like resolved if possible.
1) When I open "My Psion" icon, I get a window called "My Psion" with menubar and toolbar and within that another window called "List2" which shows the Psion icons; I can move this "List2" window within the "My Psion" window but this doesn't refresh properly.
2) By default, the Psion icons are shown as large icons; if I select sny other view (i.e. Small Icons, List, etc.), they disappear completely.
Very strange! Any ideas?
Things are perfectly OK on my Win2k work laptop.
sounds like a very mildly corrupt Psiwin install. I suggest un/reinstalling Psiwin. The process for doing this is:
Open Task Manager, locate and close any of: CopyAny.exe, PsConsv.exe, Wprntsvr.exe, Elogerr.exe
Uninstall Psiwin via Add/Remove Programs
Run the Psiwin registry cleaner (have a look in my FAQ at the URL below in the 'Connecting to a desktop computer' section for a copy of this file)
Reinstall Psiwin.
Good luck!

Many thanks for your prompt reply yan but your suggestion has not resolved the issue. I still get this strange "List2" window. I can live with it but it is a little annoying.
Does anybody else have any ideas?

. I still get this strange "List2" window. I can live with it but it is a little annoying I have this List2 window with PsiWin 2.3.3 and Win XP. It is certainly there when connected to my 5mx but I don't think it was there with a Series 3 machine. I'm not at home at present so dont have access to PsiWin or my Win XP PC.

Hi Mike
Nice to know I'm not the only one!
Please keep me posted if you have any ideas of how to get rid of it.
Many thanks

I am running PsiWin233 with XP Home Edition and Pro with both my 5mx and 7book. I have never experienced the described problems. Would it be possible for one of you to take a screen dump and attach it as a jpeg so that we can see what you mean.
Easiest way to do this is, when your psiwin screen is launched and displaying the problem, hit the Print Screen button on your keyboard and then launch Paint. Press ctrl+v to paste the image here and then perform a save as. The reason for .jpg rather than .bmp is file size. It will take a lot longer to load up a .bmp

I'm away from home for a few days so don't have PsiWin or WinXP but the right window in Windows Explorer has a blue frame round it with a title bar at the top saying "List2". It really doesn't bother me and otherwise 2.3.3 has been very reliable.

I Just opened "My Psion" on my PC and there is no "List2" window ... funny!
Recently I removed labels from the Explorer toolbars. Could that have fixed it? I wonder...

Very strange. Could try adding lables again to your toolbar and see if it does it again?
Other than that, can't think what it could be.

File attached. It didn't do it yesterday so I thought I would try again this evening and the "List2" window was there this time

Hi, Checked out the .jpg attachement and had a play at home yesterday but no matter what I tried, I could not recreate this on my machine. Very very strange. I will try and play with it a little more and let you know how I get on. Chances are, is that it is an explorer 'feature' but there are so many settings now it may take a little while to find the one.

Hello Mike
For some reason, removing the test labels from the Explorer toollbar did the trick for me.
Right-click on the Explorer toolbar and choose Customize; then, in "Text Options", select "No text labels"; finally, click OK.
Et voilà !!!
Kind regards

Héllow,
I have the same problem withe the List2 window...
After installing Psiwin, everything is fine, but after a restart, the List2 is back.
removing the test labels from the Explorer toollbar, like mentiont earlier, did not help.
Did someone found an other solution?
Thanks,
Ivan V.

Interesting. I opened MyPsion and got the normal windows, played around for a while and got an error that closed explorer. On re-opening I had the List2 window within a window. I rebooted the PC and opening MyPsion I was back to the standard window.
I've attached a jpg of the two windows.
I sounds like a Windows / explorer error to me. Did you have a windows error before the List2 window?
Regards
Colin

No, explorer didn't crash
have tried:
-uninstalling psiwin
-cean registery
-install psiwin again
several times...
One time it worked, but after a reboot, same problem again...
when browsing trough my psion (going to c:\system\apps\...), sometimes the window disappears, but going back to the "my psion" folder, it is back...
very strange...
Thanks,
Ivan.
