I just bid on ebay a month ago for a psion 3 a for my Dad. We got one and thought it was perfect as far as we could tell in perfect condition hardly been used! My Dad was so pleased with it coz he had a 3 series before that and now had a 3a!

It worked perfectly for a month and then recently the screen has just gone completely, you can barely see anything so its not useable at all. We tried the contrast to see if it was that but it looks as though the screen has gone, its got a thick black band running down the screen and its flickering??????
This is happening on whatever programme u put it on but the lines are in different places?

Does anyone here know what could be wrong with it and if so can it be fixed or replaced????

I'd be greatful for any help you can give!

Hi Niki

Sorry to hear about the problem - this sounds to me like a failure of the ribbon cable that connects the screen to the main unit.

Check out the following link to verify if this seems to be your problem:

If you decide to go for a repair, although personally I have not had occasion to use the services of POS, I know they come highly recommended by other forum members who have.

Hi Niki,

I think Julie's recommendation of POS could be misunderstood.

P(innock)O(rganiser)S(ervices) can repair just about any reparable fault on your father's 3a. As Julie said, they come highly recommended by other forum members.

Phil,
I think Julie's recommendation of POS could be misunderstoodIn what way? Julie hasn't personally had the need to use their repair services, but makes the point that they have been highly recommended by forum members who have

Hi Mike,

I wasn't insulting anyone.

But people who don't know about POS might reasonably assume that, though POS are great at ribbon-cable repairs, they might only be good (or worse) at some other repairs.

I've had POS repairs done and the only problem I had was . . . actually I didn't have one. As far as I know the same can be said by all who have used their services.

But I really didn't mean to upset anyone, just expand on another's comment.
