I am trying to use my netBook at work with my company’s LAN but am experiencing some difficulties.

I have a Combine iT LAN Global PC Card gold card, and a netBook with the last build motherboard and last build software.

I can connect to the LAN with ease and can log-on to any of the company’s servers what I cannot do is logon to the proxy server to give access to intranet and internet resources.

Opera reports an error “The proxy server requested a login authentication method that is not supported”.

A little research revealed that the proxy server uses NTLM authorisation and the Opera can’t handle this. Opera’s advice is “Download and install the MS Proxy Client”, not very useful for a netBook.

Is there a known solution to this problem? My next step was to start looking for proxy clients that will run on ER5, Java perhaps, but I thought to ask the wise heads here first as I am straying into in unknown territory.
