I have been reviewing many of the posts in this forum just to gain some much needed knowledge. However, I have become more confused. Upon reading many of the posts I have come to the conclusion that one can connect to the Internet through ActiveSync.

Am I understanding this correctly?

If So, How?

It would seem to me to be rather cumbersome to surf the web via ActiveSync when my iPaq is cradled. Also, at the time I am cradled why would I use ActiveSync to access the internet when I can simply run IE on the desktop that my iPaq is connected to.

I assumed ActiveSync was strictly for synchronizing data between my desktop and the iPaq 3830(my PDA). I have subscribed to AvantGo and picked some channels I like. I then synchronize these channels/sites to my iPaq. This is the closest I can get to surfing the web(in real time) outside of an Ethernet card(which I am yet to get working) or a Wireless card.

Can someone please set me straight.

Thanks

P.S.
Congrats Travis Kvapil(Craftsman truck champion) and Matt Kenseth(Winston Cup Champion). Wisconsin proud.

There is a checkbox in ActiveSync to allow internet surfing while connected.

Who said you had to be in the cradle to use ActiveSync? You could be using WiFi, or BlueTooth to connect to your PC. A simple and quick setup will just let you use the pass threw of you ActiveSync connection to surf instead of bridging the connection.
