I'm interested in opinions of the best program for viewing pictures on the NR70 Clie and why. Thanks in advance.

Splash Photo in my opinion is the best. Allows you to use full screen and store pictures on memory stick

tharwood is right ... SplashPhoto is a great program.

Also consider AcidImage, with similar capabilities (BMP, PCX, JPG, GIF, PCP, DCF, slideshow, thumbnails, Memory Stick access, etc).

I would also suggest you take a look at the YiShow program launcher, which has a built-in image viewer with the same features listed above. Browse the files on the Memory Stick with the built-in file manager, then tap on an image filename to display it. Plus, you'll get a launcher with hi-res and full-screen support, and it has a built-in DOC reader, as well.

(Sorry, this is starting to sound like an ad for YiShow! :D)

Thanks for the input and links. I think I'll download all three and play for a while. Sounds like you get more for the buck with YiShow. BTY, I've read about programs called "launchers" but am not really sure what that means in the Palm world ... can you enlighten me?

Thanks again to all responders.

Launchers are intended as replacements for the main program-launch display. There are a bunch of them out there that add all kinds of new capabilities, and vary widely from launcher to launcher. You install them like any other program, but they are typically configured to come up as the default launcher on power-up or reset, so they are always the main screen you see on the Palm.

The best launchers with Clie support give you hi-res and full-screen support, and usually give the main display a "makeover" with hi-res icons, background images, etc. Beyond that, the features vary widely.

Some good ones for the Clie (in my personal opinion) include Yishow Explorer, ZLauncher, Silver Screen, and HandScape. Others include MegaLauncher, LauncherX, CRSLauncher, LauncherIII ... I could go on and on and still miss some. If I remember right, these all provide some level of hi-res and/or full-screen support. If you don't care about full-screen support, the list gets *VERY* long.

Since launcher have such varied capabilities, and different "look and feel", the choice is very much a personal one based on your requirements and preferences. I would suggest you start downloading the demos and playing with them.

The best Launcher for an NR is YiShow, you can find it at http://ww.palmgear.com

The best picture viewer is AcidImage, which can be found at http://ww.red-mercury.com it can read all kinds of standard formats straight from your memory stick.

My vote is for SplashPhoto, which is one of my favorite applications on my Clie. I also have a registered copy of the FireViewer suite, which is pretty sweet too.
