I have a 2215.. active sync 7.0 and XP desktop.

I can't sync the two devices...when I plug 2215 to my snyc cable the 2215 is supposed to cut on and sync....It doesn't.
The mber 'light' blinks to tell me it is charging... but it doesn't cut on.
I then cut the 2215 on...and tap on Active Sync. I get an 'errors' message... "Unable to connect. Verify your dialup or proxy settings are correct, and try again."

How do I do this?

Is the partnership already established? Have you been able to sync before?

How do you have version 7.o when the latest version is 3.7.1?

The question that I would like to ask. Do reset on your pda, and check the setting in your ActiveSync see if it is enable using USB Connection. If yes, try use IR port, 1-enable IR port in the ActiveSync program, 2-go to ActiveSync in your pda -> tools -> connect via IR... If you can Sync, there may be some problems with the connection, check the port connection. Hope this help.

Just a thought. Try disconnecting your firewall until you are sync'd. This happened to me. Worked great after I did that. Good luck.
