My IIIc stopped working, and would not charge, would not stay on out side of cradle.
I opened it up and found that the power button had snapped and the battery has a little bit of white crust on top.
I know what to do about the button but where to get a new battery? How much should I pay?

There are a couple of sellers on eBay that have used IIIc batteries for around $25. Gethightech used to sell them but I can't find them on the site now.
The only other option is to send the unit to Palm and they will install a new one for around $120 :(

you could also look into buying a broken IIIc, with a broken screen or something like that.

That's a good idea too. I did that. Then you end up with a spare motherboard, buttons, case, etc.

I found a Palm IIIc on e-bay for about $60.00 with bad pixels...
It has not arrived yet, but when it does I am hoping the combined parts will bring it back to life.
I had no Idea it would be so awkward to live without it!
I have been reduced to witing notes on my hand!

The unit arrived from E bay in exellent condition.
I was able to get it working in almost no time and ended up swapping data in to the new one rather than parts out to the old one.
I am a very happy Palm pilot.
