Thanks! mpholic 11-20-2003, 04:55 PM The different types (ARM, MIPS, SH3) refer to the different processors originally used in early Pocket PCs made by different manufacturers. The iPAQ has alsways used ARM compatible processors. Most current PocketPCs are going to the ARM family which includes the Xscale and Samsung processors. Albinoni 11-20-2003, 08:41 PM I always thought that the ARM CPU was manufactured by Intel, as a fact I know that the ARM CPU in my Ipaq 3660 is manufactured by Intel. strickjh05 11-21-2003, 12:16 AM Note* most programs designed for Arm procesors are not compatible with X-scale. Oh and x-scale is also made by intel... its called the Intel(R) PXA255 mpholic 11-21-2003, 09:25 AM There should be no problems running ARM software on an Xscale processor. Here is a quote from the Intel site. ""ARM* Architecture v.5TE compliant and application code compatible with Intel® SA-1110 processor for rapid upgrade"" The SA-1110 is the ARM processor installed in the 3100, 3600, and 3700 series I believe. Mak 11-21-2003, 01:30 PM Thanks guys! strickjh05 11-21-2003, 11:31 PM my 3835 used ARM, it broke, I upgraded to X-scale (Hp5555) no a majority of my programs dont work. It is probably supposed to be. mpholic 11-22-2003, 05:34 PM This may not be a processor problem as much as a OS problem. The software that does not work may be compatible with Pocket PC 2000 and not Windows Mobile 2003. PDA Street
