Palm Zire 71 camera problems

My Zire 71 camera is having real problems. When I slide the unit apart to use the camera the entire screen goes black and freezes up. At that time none of the buttons or settings on the Palm will work and the unit will not turn off. The only way to get out of this mess is to hit the reset button on the back of the unit with a pin. Any ideas as to whether this is hardware or software related? I would hate to have to send the unit back to Palm for repair.

Did you install any software or deleted any files recently that might cause the palm to crash? You might want to move all the files in your Backup folder on the desktop to somewhere else and do a hard reset. You will wipe out all data on the handheld and will have to re-install all software.

Your backup folder is located:

C:\Program Files\Palm\ Your Hotsync id\Backup

Maybe rename it to Backup1 or something else.

Some drivers, mostly keyboard drivers, can do this as well. make sure the driver is OFF, or better yet, move it to the card when not needed.

Or better yet, make sure you have the latest keyboard driver from Palm
