I work outside a lot with my Palm, and with my M515 I would turn the backlight off to save battery power. Is there an easy way to switch the light on and completely off? Thanks.

There may be some one out there that has a turn off feature but I searched PalmGear and didn't get any hits. The T3 would benefit from such a feature if used outdoors but the screen is still very visible with a minimal backlight on - it would just be a power saving feature. mmmkay 11-30-2003, 02:53 AM The tungsten t3 and the original T have different types of LCD displays. The original T, like the m505/515 used reflective displays with LEDs lighting up the screen by shining on it from the side or bottom. Because the light is reflected (either ambient or from the front/side LEDs) the "backlight" can be turned off if there is enough ambient light to reflect back to your eyes. The Tungsten T3/T2 uses a transflective display which is partially translucent and the backlight shines through the display. Basically most of the light comes from behind the display, so if you turn it off, its much harder to read whats on the screen. The displays used on the T2/T3 appear much brighter and colours are more pronounced, indoors, but appears washed out in direct sunlight. The Tungsten T's display is an *excellent* performer in bright direct sunlight (just as long as you don't accidentally reflect sunlight directly into your eyes :) ). Or something along that line. <insert witty contrived technical explanation below> Hope that helped :) PDA Street
