I've seen a bunch of PC USB Bluetooth adapters that claim 100 meter (330 foot) range... now, will that also RECIEVE at that range?
My iPaq 5450 i believe has a 10m (30ft) range bluetooth... is this device able to recieve my iPaqs signal from 300 feet off?

grandkodiak,
I have seen a few of those myself and tried two of them at the store, they lasted until I got all the way to the front of the store (maybe 40 ft) and then died..
In all the people that I have discused BlueTooth with, the standard agreement is to figure about 30 ft. Now maybe....if someoe mounting one on the ceiling of a large building and had a antenna with gain to it (ie a directional antenna, not the little "rubber duckies" that come with the units) then you probably could go 300 ft. Maybe.....BT was never designed for long range stuff, it was designed to replace cabels only.
Now if you go WiFi, you might well hit that 300 feet. I know that when I use my iPaq 4355 in the car, I basically only need to be in site of a local Starbucks (they use T-Mobile as a carrier) and in most all cases it will hook up and I would say the average test I have done with that has been about 100 ft. Trying the same thing at McDonalds (they all have Cometa as carrier) I cannot get that same range and need to be within about 30 ft.
So thats my 2 cents. I kinda look at BT claims like I did at the lifetime of a portable (allthou today they are more accurate) I usually cut thee number in half or thirds and that seems to be about the real world performance.
