I'm have succesfully configured my Hitachi ETR eplate with a WLAN from Cisco. I'm trying to configure it for a remote active sync (heck of a lot faster than serial)... anybody been successful with a modem activesync ?.. this should be on the same lines. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I can't answer your question about wireless active synch - but I'd love to hear of your experience getting the wireless connection to work on your eplate. I have an eplate and the Linksys WCF11 card. The Linksys driver seems to load ok, the signal strength shows 100%, the config parameters are correct (infrastructure mode, ssid, channel, security...). I have a Linksys router/switch with DHCP turned on. The eplate will not connect, either dhcp or with a static IP. Can you provide any insights about how your got yours going???? Thanks,
Bill

I hope you were able to get configured, but in case you have not this may help.
I have both my laptop and my 600etm set up with wifi cards to wireless router.
as for the synchronizing, whatever I did to set it up... works. In reverse order:
* how it works. Both PC and HPC powered up with wifi cards active. Initiate Activesync from the HPC. (if your network is "alive", you will be shown "Network Connection" in the dialogue box (versus irda or serial).
Then it just runs.
Any unresolved items will have to be "resolved" by working in Activesync on the PC. ( I have recently lost some data in "resolving items", so do your backups everywhere.)
* how it is configured.
-- you need to establish a direct partnership using serial, or maybe irda, first.
-- in control panel, networking:
1. set identification for user, pswd, and domain... I think these are same as used on the PC. (your PC has to have MS Client for networking, and a user name, pswd, etc. ... somebody correct me if I'm wrong here.)
2. settings under Properties for your wifi card.
a. obtain address by DCHP (although I am going to change this in my network)
b. Primary WINS is IP address your PC is using
[hint: on the PC, go to start menu, Run, type winipcfg and then OK. In the pull down menu find its netowrking adapter or card, and write down the IP address.]
Primary DNS... in my case it is the IP address from the router. Makes it easy.
I think that's it. You may need to tweak some settings on PC Activesynch or PC Networking settings.
