I'm looking pretty hard at purchasing a T|E to replace my current PDA - it looks like it will meet my needs pretty well.
One question has come up though. I spotted this forum while surfing this morning and I read all the posts so far in the Tungsten E group (very good 1st hand information). From what I have read here & elsewhere the T|E doesn't have a "true" USB port or a Universal Connector. I'll likely install some mapping software and maybe someday (if it is feasible with this unit) attach a GPS. Does anyone know if/how I might be able to connect a GPS in the future?

Most older-style GPS units support NMEA communications, which are 4800 or 9600 baud serial.
No serial port on the T|E and no way to get there. Bummer.
If you REALLY want to do it, you can go Bluetooth -- Socket Communications do a GPS receiver that's Bluetooth (for around $225). Add a Bluetooth SDIO card to your T|E (or get the T3 with Bluetooth built in) .
While the Socket Communications site (http://www.socketcom.com) only mentions Pocket PC, other sites mention Palm -- further research is required to make sure such a combination would fly.
It's a matter of personal preference, but I prefer a separate GPS (and a separate phone, and a separate wine bottle opener), as opposed to an all-in one device...

From what I've read on other forums, the T|E is NOT compatible with the BT SD card.
This leaves no options for attaching a GPS to the T|E.

There are IR to serial adapters so maybe you can attach such an adapter to the GPS unit and use the combination with the T|E. I've also seen softwaare that will fool the Palm in thinking its IR port is a serial port. Could be useful if the GPS software will not talk to an IR port. If you plan to use this setup in a car, maintaining "line-of-sight" between the devices might be a little tricky!
