Apologies for a long-ish preamble but...

I recently acquired an Apple Airport Access Point for use at home. Reason for going for one of these (rather pretty) boxes v's a standard AP is that they incorporate a 56K modem as well as the Ethernet bridge. Living as I do in a rural area some 8-9km from our ADSL-enabled exchange, the world according to BT means that there's no immediate prospect of broadband (actually, a group of us are getting together to try and do something about that using WiFi mesh technology - but that's a longer-term prospect). Hence I needed an AP that could dial up in the 1st instance...

The setup works fine with all my PCs. Also, there are some cross-platform Java applications available which enable remote control of the Airport. I'm in the process of writing appropriate EPOC wrapper programs for these so that they'll also run on my netBook from the Extras bar as though they were standard apps.

Hence my question is simply; is there anyone else out there also using an Apple Airport who'd be interested in these apps. for their Psion? The 1st is at very early alpha stage but I'm happy to share now until they're done (at which point I'll publish anyway) if anyone's interested.

Probably a long shot - just thought I'd ask...

Cheers,
Martin

Yes, Martin,
I use an Apple Airport with my Netbook, iMac and Windows computers.
The Airport is linked to an ADSLNation ADSL router & modem for Broadband access.
I'd be interested in any extra control I can muster from my Netbook.
Let me know if I can be of any help in testing.

Hi George,

The Java programs for the Airport are here: http://edge.mcs.drexel.edu/GICL/people/sevy/airport/

Whilst modem dialup probably isn't of interest to you, the others might be. I'll drop you a private email with further details tomorrow about how the port to EPOC is progressing...

Cheers,
Martin

Just to prove that this hasn't died a death... I'll be sending out an early alpha version of the modem dialer program to those that had expressed an interest both here and on the EPOC Digest in the next couple of days.

Screenshot (albeit a bit boring) attached here.

Cheers,
Martin

I'm still here, looking forward to giving it a go, Martin!
I just hate having to get out of bed to turn my desktop on if I want to change my airport settings. As you know, with WiFi the Netbook enables us to save on slippers.
I still find I occasionally have to use another dialup account (for example to FTP a freeserve client's webspace) and configuring via Netbook is just what I need.
