Hi
I tried synchronising my 5mx with outlook on windows XP.
It seemed to go fine but when I looked in outlook for my calendar and database I couldn't find anything.
There was a file which seemed to register the synchronisation event.
Can you help?
Thanks
Mike

Mike,
What version of Outlook? What version of PsiWin? Is the first time you've tried syncing to this Outlook file or have you successfully synced in the past? When you say you go to Outlook to "look for my calendar and database", are saying that your calendar folder in Outlook is completely empty? Also, what other databases are you refering to?
You should be able to view the syncing log when you first open PsiWin. If you can copy the contents of the log file for your last sync and paste it into your next post, that may give me some clues as to what might be wrong.

Jim
Thanks for your reply
What version of Outlook? ver. 2002
What version of PsiWin? ver 2.3.1 build 142
Is the first time you've tried syncing to this Outlook file or have you successfully synced in the past? Not tried in the past - no previous success.
are saying that your calendar folder in Outlook is completely empty? Yes it appears to be.
Also, what other databases are you refering to? The 5mx databases rather than the 5mx contacts file.
The sync log file button in psiwin is not clickable suggesting that there is nothing there to see? There is a logfile.txt file on the psion. This says Epocsync run on 27 july 2003 but that's not when I tried with my new computer/outlook.
Just tried another sync and it looked as if it was going through the process - files/items moving to the PC - but same result - cannot find anything in outlook that has come from the psion.
Hope this is helpful
look fwd to yr reply
many thanks

Mike,
The version of PsiWin is your problem. You must use PsiWin version 2.3.3, Build 149 with either Win2k or WinXP. As you've seen, earlier versions just don't work.
You'll have to first download PsiWin 2.3.3 if you don't already have it. You can search here in the software section for the link to download PsiWin. You'll then have to uninstall the current version of PsiWin and use the Registry Cleaner available at Mike McC's web site at http://www.mgmcc.myby.co.uk/ in the 5mx section. The standard uninstall leaves troublesome bits behind and the Registry Cleaner removes them. Reboot and then install PisWin 2.3.3. Take a look at the other updates that are available at Mike's web site while you're there and make sure you have them all installed as well. Once you've got everything set up, delete any existing syncronization tasks and set up a new syncronization.
You should now be able to sync to Outlook. Pay special attention to the Contacts section of PsiWin if you're using a Psion Data file rather than the Psion Contacts application. You'll need to get the field mapping correct or you'll end up with a mess in the Contacts folder of Outlook. As usual, take a full backup of both your Psion and Outlook before you start in since it's much easier to revert to a backup than try and fix a mess.:)
