I spent over an hour with my friendly HP tech trying to figure out why the vibrate alarm did not work on my H5555 - all the audible alarms worked fine, just not the vibrate. Actually, it did work, but only on occassion. This was a time-consuming pursuit, because every time we tried a different approach we had to set another calendar appointment, and then wait for its time to pass. We did reset after reset. The tech put me on hold numerous times as he consulted with his supervisor(s). Finally, he said I should ask my vendor to replace it or send it to HP for replacement.
Goodbye.
Well, shortly after this, my wife drifted into the computer room, and I complained to her about my circumstance. I told her about all that had been tried and all the time it had taken. Of course, I was not expecting her to be of any help since she is not technical, nor even interested in my toy. I was simply venting. She sweetly consoled me - trying to make me feel better. Then she asked, "Does it work the same if you take it out of the cradle?"
"I guess" , I said. So, I took it out of the cradle and tried another test. Of course, it worked perfectly!

It makes sense that the vibrate feature would not work while in the cradle, but I could not find any documentation that explained it.
Hope this saves someone some time.
