After syncing with Outlook 2002, my PalmVx does not respond correctly to screen input/stylus strokes. Icons can be activated usually about 1" above actual and menus cannot be used at all.
Therefore, cannot go into preferences and digital for reset. Only other option is hard reset which erases all my data but the resync only recreates the problem. How can I fix this?

You need to do a hard reset and that will bring up the "Welcome" app that sets the digitizer.
If you feel you cannot do the Hard reset because you will lose data and you have not backed up in a while you may be able to download an app from Palm Gear called DifiFix or one called SureTap. The best cost money and is called AutoDigi2 (the demo last only 12 hours). If you can hotsync DigiFix or SureTap onto your Palm then you will be able to reset the digitizer after only a soft reset (not lose data).
Many Palm V/Vx units have a serious problem with their digitizers. Once you get one of these apps loaded you need to be precise when you set the digitizer.

The hard reset is as follows: Hold down the Power on button. At the same time poke the reset pin in the reset hole. Remove the reset pin continue to hold the Power on button down for 10 to 15 seconds more or untill you see the Palm Logo. Let the power button go. You should see a screen offering to remove all of your data if you push the scroll up button. Say Yes and you have done the Hard Reset.

Many thanks - your forum made me realize how widespread this problem really is.

I Hope that means you are back up and running normally.

Yes I tried digifix which cured my Palm. Everything syncs except the contacts from Outlook now, even when the Hotsync is set for Desktop overwrites handheld. I have the latest Pocketmirror update from Chapura installed. Any suggestions?

Just a quick note to say that I fixed the sync problem - there was an edit conflict problem in Chapura which was resolved. Thanks again.
