As my user name inplies, i am new to PDA's and PPC's. I have done quite a bit of research on these forums and the internet, but still can't decide what to get. Palm or PPC. I would like to have WiFi, and expandability, good battery life. I don't want to buy one and then find out 3 weeks later i need something better. I would like to stay between 250 and 400 dollars. What brand offers the most for the least amount of money? I know this is the pocket pc forum, wasn't sure where to post. Any help would be appreciated.

All my units are older so don't have a lot of opinion that would be of value, but I've heard some good reports of the Dell Axim and it is one of the cheaper ones around. You might check their site out and see if it will do what you want.

Instead of just asking what is good, also ask "what am I going to use this PDA for"

Once you have figured that out, you can really start to narrow down the field.

The Dell Axim X5 is nice, but it is a little on the "chubby" side. On the up side it has outstanding battery life and is close if not under the $200 range. It is a basic PPC.

Then you can go all the way up to the IPAQ 4555. Which has just about every bell and whistle you can think of including a bio-metric figer print reader for security. This comes in at around the $600 range.

There are a whole lot of machine between those two that are good. Try checking the link below

You can view PDA's by price and see what others who own the deivce say about it. GOOD LUCK!!

So, I've got a Viewsonic V36 and I've been very pleased with this one (I received it for Christmas). I wish I would have seen your post earlier though since this PDA had an awesome deal on it. $100 rebate from Microsoft but now it's gone (I found out that the person who got it for me payed $120 after rebate) but I still love this thing. The screen is clear (not as good as some Axim's) but it's nice to be relatively cheap compared to some others and still have a 300Mhz processor on it. The battery life is pretty decent in my experience. One charge will get you about 5 to 6 hours of use if you don't use it for the camera feature the whole time. The camera is pretty neat but don't expect it to take amazing quality pictures. Sometimes it's nice to take a shot something really quick (or in my case, take pictures of my friends just sporadically). Hope this helps a bit. PC Magazine I believe has a review on this as well.

Hey, so the V36 does have a $100 rebate on it again so it's cheap again. Total comes to $186 which is one heck of a deal :)
