Hey everyone, all the times i've said i loved my ique and had no problems, i regret now. I still love it, but i am experiencing my first problem. As having helped lots of people on this message board, and seeing what insight and knowledge the members of it have, i need your help. Heres the situation:

I haven't used the gps in about a week. I've recently been having trouble getting a signal. Ive soft reset, hard reset, called tech support, let it sit outside in plain view of the sky for about an hour, and nothing, no white or black bars. It says its aquiring satellites...r2 is installed, and it's worked perfectly and still does other than this (i.e. no other issues)

please help

Do you have any external antenna to try?
This way you could isolate the problem with died internal if it was it...

Kind of funny... I have now the same problem!

Works fine with the external antenna, but won't work with the internal antenna (no signal whatsoever). I'm wondering if there is a part that indicates the unit that it should use the signal of an external antenna might be stuck "on"...

I guess I'll RMA this unit (again!).

I fired mine up this morning to find that I didn't have any satellitte signals at all. Not a one. I called Garmin and they said a chip needed to be replaced. He didn't hesitate with that diagnosis either which leads me to believe this isn't an isolated incident. My baby is already on a plane back to Garmin (overnight). He promised I'd have it back before I leave for my first out of town trip since getting the iQue. I leave next Thursday so I have my fingers crossed. I had already downloaded all the maps and addresses I needed for the trip too. :-(

I RMA'd mine and paid for 2 day UPS out of my pocket to get it to them and they sent it back Airborne. I found out later that Garmin will pay for freight both ways since then. Make sure you ask them how when you get the RMA number.

From the time I gave it to UPS and when I got it back, it was 9 days.

It's been fine since, actually much better, and I have not had one "screech attack" since and it's been 2 weeks.

Same thing happened to me. Have had my iQue since early release and antenna worked fine. Stopped working just before a big trip to a strange state, just when I really needed it. Luckily, had an external Gillson antenna which still works fine.

Now I am back from vacation contacted Garmin via email for an RMA (the telephone wait was 20mins so gave up on that). Still waiting for a reply after 2 days. I guess they have a lot of failures and a lot of RMA work to handle.

I hope the repair / replacement is more reliable.

I had the same problem!

When I called them and explained the problem, they were quick to say I had to send it in and they would pay for all the shipping.

They said there was a problem with the durability of some of the units and mine required a hardware upgrade. I asked if they could send me a new unit overnight while I sent my old one in. They said the new ones won't have the upgraded hardware for about 2-3 weeks and I could either wait until then or they would install the new part in my current iQue. I opted for the shorter duration.

Go figure.

I'm glad to hear this. Given the Christmas rush with the mail, I figured I'd wait until New Years to get it there and back faster. Since my unit screeches, doesn't hotsync (use the card and a reader to transfer big program, and have an old laptop with IR), likes to reset a lot, and the power pin is broken, I know I'm likely to recieve a new unit, so, I of course want to wait until all the fixes are being done on them. No doubt this is good for Garmin too as I won't likely be doing another RMA then!
