Someone in a website gives instructions to open a Psion in order to fix the backlight (I think). I made a search which did not return the result I was waiting for. Would anyone know this web address, by any chance? I remember that there were pictures of an open Psion on this website.

Thank you in advance for any help.

What is the trouble with your backlight? Is your Psion still under warranty? Taking your Psion apart is a bit of a tricky thing and if you mess it up, it will cost you to fix it. Best thing is to send it to Psion if still under warranty and POS-Ltd if not.

Just in case someone would be interested. Here is the address I was looking for (and thank you to the person who helped me finding it):

Nicole, which model of Psion are you talking about? The URL you posted relates to the procedure to add a backlight to a Revo or Mako, neither of which has one as standard.

If you're talking about fixing a failed backlight, then presumably you are referring to an S5, 5mx, or MC218.

I'm confused

In any case, I agree with Si - think carefully before attempting DIY surgery on whichever Psion you have.

Sorry to have confused you. I was just interested in backlights in general.

Nicole,

try http://www.aha.ru/~odating/s5dismantle/ for instructions how to disassmeble a Psion 5/5MX. I found this by simply typeing 'psion 5 disassembly' into Google.

I have followed these instructions (many times!) and it had quite a bit of success in repairing 5s/5MXs.

The backlight is just a simple flat yellow panel behind the screen (on the 5), and it is relatively easy to replace if you have a spare one. I do not think that it would be possible to repair a broken backlight - there are no bulbs or anything repairable, just a flat yellow plastic flexible panel.

Let me know if you need any more advice.
