iQue to cell phone for internet/e-mail

I have been reading the posts on connecting my iQue to my Verizon LG phone. I have the Gomadic cable. I can get the iQue to dial the phone (when Perfs are set to "modem") and I get a data screen on the phone, but it times out and the Ique never receives. I have set all my Pref. as Verison sugests. If I set the Perfs. to "connect to PC" the same time out happens.
What am I doing wrong.

Call gomadic, and go over your "AT" script you are using. That may be the problem, as you may not have that in there correctly.

download the file "pda.exe". Follow the Verizon Expressnet setup instruction.

remember though, there are two ways (that I know of) to connect to Verizon. One, is their high speed network, which costs extra, and the other is for the standard connection. That one doesn't cost extra, but is MUCH slower, and the one I use. Help me here, but I believe the expressnet is the faster (but extra cost) connection. On my verizon connection, I just dial 777, and get a 14 rate connection. Isn't the expressnet a 56k connection, a different number, and extra cost? I know there are different AT commands for the two different connections.
