Have any of you potential users started puchasing software as yet? I'm dying to fins out what's going to work (or not going to work, as the case may be) If there's a hosts of "killer apps" out there, it could be that I buy a nubmer of units for the team here at work.

Obvioulsy, it's the office/productivity stuff I'm most interested in...no time for games...well not much time...well only if they r are really good!

I was told that mine should arrive on Wednesday or Thursday.

As soon as I'm able I'll post a short review.

I know that TextMaker is available for it. I use Textmaker daily on a Jornada 720.

It's a great wordprocessor, does almost everything that Word does on a PC.

Should be similar if not identical on the netBook Pro.

Yeah...I've mailed them direct and they said that it will work without any problems. I know there's a database, but is there a Spreadsheet out there?

PlanMaker coming from the same company, totally Excel Compatible. I believe it will be entering Beta very soon.

Or you could look at SpreadCE. Not sure if it will run on the netBook Pro (but it says WinCE). Again I use both on my Jornada.

Hi Ifor!

Could you be so kind and post some more of your HPC/CE-Software with links for testing it on netBook or Digital Book/dbook1?

Many thanks in advance!

The homepage for SpreadCE is

http://www.byedesign.freeserve.co.uk/

It is available for just about every processor or version of WINCE and the author is always looking for more to make it available for.

You might want to look at PocketMVP which is a Movie & Audio player which is available for XScale processors running WinCE .NET and screen sizes of 800x480 ... sound familiar? It will play DivX, OpenDivX, MPEG-1 and AVI movies as well as a variety of Audio formats MP3 etc

The Author is VERY helpful and should be able to tell you if it will work on the netBook PRO. I would bet good money that it will.

Home page is

http://www.wincesoft.com

Hope this helps

Thanks for all this Ifor. I'm pleased the Textmaker folk are thinking about a spreadsheet too. Should be blinding if it's half as good as their word processor. For those with the £'s, looks like the Pro could be just the ticket....proper little PC replacement!
