I have an IPAQ 1945 which to this point is great. My one question is this... Does anyone know how to REALLY set the unit to shut off when connected to a PC via cradle or cable. I have set it to shut off in 1 minute both on battery power AND when externally powered. However, whenever it is connected to a PC it stays on. (This is a problem when I'm at work because the cradle did not come with an additional AC adapter...which I find kind of annoying).

Any Suggestions?? Thanks

You need to change the option to "Disconnected when done" rather than the default "Maintain Connection" on your PPC

Activesync>Tools>Options>Options>Disconnect when done:)

Sorry, I left that out of my initial email. The unit IS set to disconnect after sync. IT doesn't though. (That was my implication by bolding the word Really in my initial post). I should have made that more clear. Any other thoughts?

Activesync: Under options>schedule>desktop schedule --> change that to "Manually". See whether that works. :)

Regarding your lack of an additional adapter, that's an option that allow you to set your USB cradle to charge your iPAQ when connected. Palm's cradle by default does that but iPAQ's cradle allow you the option. You can turn it on or off. Sorry, can't remember where to set this, but I'm sure the manual mentioned it somewhere. :D

But that is not so good for the iPAQ battery because you will be charging the unit as and when you sync even if the unit's battery is not empty.

Sorry, but no luck there either. I was already set to "manual."
Any other thoughts on that...

In other news, with the 1945, the cradle has a 'slot' to plug in the AC Adaptor. It did not come with the handheld and therefore, isn't covered in the manual (which didn't come physically with the 1945 either). However, are you saying that the unit can be recharged directly though USB? If so, does that work with the cradle and cable, or am I misunderstood.

Thanks for the help.

The cradle should draw some power through the USB port on the computer. It should be able to charge the unit without the need of the power adapter.

I've tried to look throughout the manual, it does not seems to say it there. I was mistaken. But I do remember seeing it somewhere on some forum. Someone was asking about it and some good Samaritan gave the solution. I will dig somemore to try to find back where I saw that before, because I've done it before and I've disabled it because I don't want the cradle to charge my unit everytime I put the iPAQ on.
Sorry, for not able to give you the solution right away. I will get back to you asap.

I also want to know how to do it again.
