Magellan Question

I have recently purchased a Magellan GPS companion for m500 series and as stated in earlier threads, it does fit. The Magellan seems to work fine with mapopolis but i cannot get the palm to recognize the magellan in the rand mcnally street finder software or the NAV companion software provided with the magellan. Is there an update i need becuase the zire 71 runs OS 5?. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
