I just got my new Zire 71. I replaced the stylus with a new Flash Stylus I had already gotten from CompUSA. It seemed to fit fine. When I removed it from the silo, though, the tip stayed in the silo. (NEVER use a cheap stylus with threaded tip!) I turned the Zire upside down, expecting the tip to fall out. It didn't. It seems to be thouroughly stuck in the bottom of the silo. Any suggestions as to how to get it out? This is really DUMB!!!!!!

I extended the camera and VERY CAREFULLY pushed a TINY screwdriver up from the bottom of the silo. It pushed the tip of the stylus up far enough so it was dislodged and I could turn the Zire over to let the stupid tip fall out. No damage done. WHEW!!!!! I'll be more careful what kind of stylus I put in that silo in the future! Btw, any suggestions for a good replacement stylus?

This problem has been mentioned in other forums. I loved my M500 stylus. It is a pity Palm can't have one just like it for the Zire 71. I don't know why they don't. It was well balanced & I loved not having to carry a paperclip around with me for resets! You would think with all the negative chatter about the standard Zire 71 stylus they would come up with a better one!

The Zire's standard stylus is pretty sucky, but proporta.com do a fantastic 3 in 1 (pen, reset pin, stylus) chrome plated stylus. It's fantastic.

for my money, the 3-in-1 stylus from stylus central fills the bill and it's only $9.99 plus shipping and it arrives two days after order. my all-time fave (for m505) was a tfm500 from pentopia because it had a self-adjusting tip.

That's the one I just got. I really like it. Good feel and great fit in the zire.
