where may i get spare parts?Spare parts are not generally available to buy. You may need to buy used (and possibly broken) Psions in order to get the parts you need from them.

Ed,

If you do a Google search for "psion 3a" (you will find quite a few links to sites with dismantling information including this one:-

http://www.home.unix-ag.org/fionn/e/Psion/Inside.html

To get at the keyboard you only need to remove two small cross-head screws, one inside each ssd compartment, one is hidden by the warranty label.
Then carefully with a thumb nail prise outwards the case next to the space bar to release two tabs and gently lift up the keyboard cover all along that side of the unit.
,Once this edge is up catch and gently pull the keyboard cover away from the screen, one side at a time and then whole cover can be removed.
It really is a very simple proceedure and sounds much more difficult than it actually is.

Good luck. If you need a new keyboard membrane and would like to make a donation to a charity of your choice send me a pm.

Best regards,

Bob

Hi Malaktar.

You don't say what model you have replaced with what.

I have recently got a new (well, almost new) 3c and pensioned off my old 3a for use as a very sophisticated alarm clock. The keyboard on the 3c is more sensitive than the 3a and I believe the 3mx is the same.

Although some might find it a fudge I have just set the keyclick (System, Menu, Control, Sounds) to "Loud" - this works for me as I can hear when I have pressed a key rather than feel ;) .
