As the topic says.

Does anybody experience shorter battery life yet? :)

I've had mine for over a year now, and reduced run time is just starting to show up :\

I've had mine well over a year as well and thought the battery was going just recently. Turned out the software I had - StayOff - wasn't doing the job. I carry mine in a leather Covertec folding case in my pants pocket and it kept turning on by itself. Finally tried another app that won't turn on unless you hit the key twice quickly and that did it. Suddenly I had lots of battery power throughout the day. The one I got is DisableButtons 2.1. There may be others out there but whatever you use I think the key is to get one that you have to press the key twice quickly. It made a big difference to my Tungsten T. Good luck!

hello 3mkay & thumper

on my part, i received my TT last christmas and noticeably, since a few weeks, the battery life is getting shorter & shorter while i do not carry this TT in jean pockets or equivalent

so i do not feel this is (for mine) a matter of unwanted pressure on the buttons

i wonder if a new battery is worth it or just buy a new palm.... ?

I don't think the device turning on in my pocket was an issue for me since I was using the plastic cover until last month when I bought the Tungsten T essentials kit for half price (:

Comes with charging sync cable, screen protectors, another two stylii (I now have five), cleaning cloth and a bunch of screen protectors, and the scuba case.

The scuba case was pretty nice in the beginning but like all things that enter a pocket, it gets scratched up pretty quick. Probably should have gotten the hard case :)

Anyway, apparently batteries are only 50 dollars US. Includes instructions to replace it and the tools are also included.

such a nice collection of stilets... will you open a shop or... even a museum ?
(don't take it negatively, it's only a smiling joke !)

in fact my TT is working in the neigborhood of (about) 3 hours now without bluetooth of course. How long does yours last ?

Hehe,

My battery still lasts reasonably long. I was listening to music and reading offline web content in iSilo for two hours and I'm down to 80% now.

hmm hmm then you may keep the actual battery for a few months probably....

whenever it's getting unacceptable like below 2 and 1/2 h for example.. will you tell us ?

(personnaly, i've been "playing" for a while in a store with a T3 and i did not feel it was so much better that I need to buy it immediately... but this is only my point of view, of course.... so i believe a shorter battery life does not make my TT an horrible disliked object !)

all the best in your quest

Yeah I probably just didn't leave it on the cradle long enough before, cos you know, if you just stick a dead Palm onto the cradle for 15 minutes and remove it, it'll say 100%, but that's just because the voltage of the battery is high.

Or something like that. Batteries don't charge and discharge in a linear fashion (at least rechargables don't). It'd be nice if they did though :)

And about the Tungsten T3, I played with it in Futureshop too (they have demo models of nearly all PDAs). It was nice in that the screen was a bit larger, but the slider was very very tight. And I really dislike not having 100% screen viewable at all times. It was okay with the original Tungsten T because the stuff at the bottom was just the Graffiti area.

Plus the reflective screen rocks :)

Someone in this forum recently posted the benefit of reducing the power-off time in Preferences- I have used 3 mins. since my TT was new 13 months ago, but just dropping to 2 mins. has made a noticeable difference, and is fine for the way I use the device.
This was a good tip and maybe it will help one of you, too.

Had mine for ~10months by now. I get approximately 1hr per 20% of battery capacity although the discharge, as noted elsewhere, is far from linear. This is without BT of course and the screen brightnes at ~30% or so. Overall, I reckon I woukld get 3-31/2 hours with normal useage but my feeling is that it is getting lower of late.

Lowering the auto-power off limit would be useful, but most of the time (for me anyway) I just turn the unit off right after I'm done :)

I was thinking about my previous post and decided to try to see how much battery life I could squeeze out. In fact, starting from a full charge (~3 hours in the cradle - 4120mV) I got to 3hrs 15' with the indicator still at ~50% (!). This was pretty light use, mainly futzing around with the Zlauncher v4 beta, plus a little gaming (~15 mins) and about 40 mins of palmreader (using autoscroll). Screen brightness at ~30% most of the time, which is where I tend to keep it anyway. No bluetooth or IR action at all which would definitely have made a big difference. Nevertheless, I was pleasantly surprised....there's life in the old dog yet!!!;)
