I just got delivery of the iQue3600 in Kiev.
I have a TT3. Will the cradle I use for the T3 work for the 3600?
The 3600 seems to have a different power connection than the T3. Is that correct?
I am not sure whether the t3 cradle works for IQue, but I am currently using a Garmin cradle for t3!
The Universal Connector is the same as long as the power supply is concerned on both machines. The difference is that the IQue has an extra power connector, so you can charge it without a cradle.

And my iQue preferws the m500 cradle, which can be used by the Palm Tungsten T also. But the iQue cradle won't work with the m500 or the TT. The TT cradle can be used with the iQue with some difficulty, but it won't take the m500.
Bottomline: It is hardly a question of model but rather of individual variations due to manufacturing tolerances being to lax. The problem is with the small stainless steel hooks.

I carefully tried to use the TT cradle earlier but was not sure. No green light came on for the iQue but now I set again in the TT cradle and the green light came on I guess my problem is solved!
Thanks
Another question. Is it okay to use GPS in Turkey?

Why shouldn't it be? I'd call the Turkish embassy and ask but since they even allow you to use the license free 446 MHz UHF band for walkie-talkies (according to european directives) I can't see why there should be a problem with GPS.
I think your question arises because of the situation in Russia and possibly other OSS states. I got a couple of sites that I can give you if you read technical and legal russian. The bottom line is taht liberals maintain that gps receivers for ""everyday use" bytovoj po russki, i.e. consumer grade receivers, are licens free whereas equipment or use for construction, geodesics etc need licensing.
But then some sterner types brought up regulation that makes it clear that establishing the coordinates of objects with an accuracy better than 30 meters constitutes a breach of state secrecy. Well, even concumer grade receivers do that today, and it will be worse still when EGNOS is in full swing and Russia joins, as it has declared its interest to do. Already today, you can use maritime LW differential correction in the Baltic to come to under 5 meter accuracy.
But obviously people use GPS happily in Russia, among other things with the confluence project (Se Dave Patton on sci.geo.satellite-nav). yOu should be a little bit careful with objects in your vicinity though. As a matter of fact, I think the iQue is perfect because with Fugawi or som other mapware, you can show the suspicious comrade that you are merely locating yourself, not any strategic or tactical objects. And by the way, it helps if you don't look caucasian - which to the russians is somebody from the Caucasus region.
Just to confuse things. the man who has really helped the world to make DIY maps for garmins is a russian chap named Konstantin Galichski. As old Churchill said, Russia ain't supposed to be understandable.
What's the situation in Kiev? What about those Ukraina Garmin maps? Did you have any trouble with GPS? What about Moldova - since half the place is filled with russians? Does Lukasjchenko like GPS?

And - no, the russians won't let you use the license free 446 band as yet. None of the OSS states do. Well, then Monaco, Andorra and the Vatican don't either. Interesting to those that look forward to a European version of the Garmin Rhino. But for those smaller places you could just transmit straight accross them to their dismay and your fun.

There is a Garmin distributor here but he will not release a CD of the software for Etec, etc but will install on to a device. This week I will get maps of Ukraine from him for my 3600.
He charges about $75 usd for maps of Ukraine but fears the rip-off price of $2.00 in the Metro.
I will gladly pay full price for software. I do not want rip-off s/w.
Going to central Turkey over Christmas and thought it would be fun to have a GPS.
Thank you,
Charles
