Hey everyone who have complained about the new Graffitti and bad letter recognizing. I just wanted to pass on that after reading on this forum I sent my unit back to have my digitizer fixed. They sent me a new iQue instead. I used to have a real hard time with K's and T's especially and my writing was slow with everything. Now it works great. I thought I just had bad hand writing, still do but it recognizzes it well now. So if you have a lot of squiggles in your writing it might not be you or the Graffitti.

There was a previous thread some time back about G2. T's and K's are a pain but with G2 it has some features that mirror normal writing. Instead of a ^ for an a, just write a lowercase cursive a and so forth.

For those of us starting out on Palms with G1, G2 does take some getting use two. I took the G2 sticker and pasted it to the inside of the Que's vinyl flap as a reference.

I actually like G2 becasue of the capital letter divider. Always had to have a hack before.

Blame Xerox for the stupid lawsuit causing Palmsource to shift to Jot (G2).

It's good you sent the unit in to get it "fixed" because with the graffiti trace - you can really see that your not inputting all that bad. I've been lucky - haven't had to send a unit back and I think that if Garmin has sold some 50K worth of units - relatively speaking there are very few that have had to RMA.

Yes Moose, I think it was that thread that got me to realize I had a problem that wasn't just me. I keep getting squiggles instead of lines and realized I wasn't the only one. Bad digitizer.

Franklee, do you recall the serial number of the unit you sent back?

They have mine in for repairs currently. The serial number is 90201527.

Just wondering what the odds are they are replacing the older units with new ones...

If anyone doesn't like the way that the Que does it grafitti, you can completely customize the way it works by using TealScript v3.1. I have been using it for several years and installed it on the Que and it works well. You can train any letter to work the way you want it to work, not the way it was coded into the Que.

Sounds interesting, I'll have to try that when/if my iQ ever comes back from RMA...

The T followed by a space is a problem that i was having a lot. By going into the settings, and enabling a different version of the t thing in graffiti, it helped out a lot...

PS i've been using my old iiic with G1 on it, and it is almost impossible to use after using G2 on my iQ (partly b/c my iiic hardly recognizes anything, but thats another thread).

My unit is 31 away from yours and I'm not too happy with the way the iQue make sqwiggly lines when I try to write a straight one. I try to write a space, and I get a "w" alot. Think it could be a bad production group?

paul6347- mine never did anything like that before (knock on mousepad), you may wanna call garmin and see about RMA'ing it if it is really bad.

also...how big are you writing you letters, b/c when i write small, it is a little squiggly, but when i write the whole area of the graffiti box, it straightens out a bit.
