Hiya,
My screen doesn't respond at the top. Although there is no crack or anything I am thinking i will replace the digitizer. I will try to buy a broken one for parts probably. I was wondering is the palm iii or palm iiixe digitizer compatible or will i have to buy a broken iiiC??
Thanks

i think the ribbon cable is on the opposite side on the rest of the III series than the IIIc. could be wrong about that though.

You might want to try re-seating the ribbon cable that connects the digitizer to the mother board. Be careful to keep track of the screws and where they came from. Take out the stylus. Remove the Four screws on the back. Pry it open carefully as there is a high voltage power supply in side...no joke! THE ribbon cable should be obvious. It is held on with some times one long clip on others two small easily lost and hard to put back clips. I would first simply push the cable firmly to the mother board and try to tap the screen to see if it is now working. Be careful around the high voltage. Best of luck.

By high voltage, DrMud is talking about 800V!

well 800vpp which is about 282.8 volts, still quite a jolt though.

Yeah. I posted about the same pblem a while ago. I tried making sure the cable was pushed in properly. It didn't make any difference though unfortunately. I had heard about the high voltage and seen the warning sign. Fun!! All these freebee extras you find your palm has........!

if you want, I could sell you a digitizer. I had a IIIc that had the backlight go bad on it but the digitizer still works. I was going to take it apart and sell all of the stuff on eBay, but I'd be happy to just get rid of it. e-mail me if you're interested. I could sell you just the digitizer, or the motherboard and buttons too.

Hi. Thanks for your offer. I live in England so it would probably cost loads to send it over??
Thanks anyway,
Dave
