Can't send email with 7book

Has any one had this issue with the 7book???? My email works great receiving, but I tried to send out some responses and it would not send. It dials, and the progress bar says connecting and is all pink, but never connects and just times out. I had a 56k DACOM + Fax and 10mb Ethernet card in. I though that maybe its the card so I put my regular DACOM Gold card in and same thing happened. Again receiving is fine and Opera works fine also. I have done a soft reset and no change. Everything else seems to work just like my Netbook. Works great.

surely there is some difference in the settings between the two? it does seem unlikely that a hardware difference would cause this kind of fault :confused:

you could get hold of FLFinger from www.freepoc.de and try pinging your smtp server on port 25. That'll tell you whether the server can be 'seen' at a software level.

Thanks for the reply. Actually I was out in the car and was thinking--kind of dangerous, this thinking stuff---and thought that maybe the settings are not quite right. So I will check them and then reply back.

This thread is now complete. Taking Diem's and my thought process also, as I mentioned, after doing a recheck on my settings I found that I didn't put all the info in the outgoing preferences. Works just fine now. Thanks Diem for your advice.

It looks like I am talking to myself on this one. I had one more observation before I close this one out. It all works great with the regular DACOM PC card modem, but it won't work with the DACOM PC card with the two connections, one for the modem and one for the ethernet. Its either the card or it just won't work these machines. It won't recognize it and won't initialize.

ooh, this is important info. is it only the modem you've tested, or does the ethernet side not work either?

Could you post the complete set of writing on the card, plus the OS revision that your Series 7 personality module originally came installed with?
