I plugged my charger into a 220V outlet while I was in Europe. Turns out the charger is 120V only, I should of checked it first. The charger does not work anymore.

To me it appears that this charger is specific to the Tungsten E and no other palm uses it.

The chargers at Radio Shack are 4.5 or 6V not 5.5V. However they have the plug so I can charge from a adjustable power supply I happen to have.

Does anyone know of a source for the charger, I can not find it on
the palm site.

Palm isn't offering a charger for the T|E. Try www.boxwave.com for a device that works both as a hotsynch cable and charger.

The boxwave gadget looks to be stealing USB power and feeding it into the power connector of the T|E. USB is specified at 5 volts. The T|E, as stated, wants 5.5 volts.

The other issue is current -- I haven't done measurements on my T|E for current draw on the power connector, but I have measured the USB draw at 50mA max.

USB devices, depending on the hub, can draw up to 500 mA. A hub is supposed to recognize overcurrent and shut down the device should it try and draw more.

I sure hope you've hollered to Palm "support" (sic) about no chargers for the T|E!

What you want is Palm PN:P10972U. It is the Tungsten E travel charger. Right now it is on back order. I should have it in my store either just after Christmas or just before the new year. If your in Maryland swing in and pick it up.

Very interesting. I know a dozen people who are looking for a second charger and another dozen looking for a travel charger that will work on 220v current, for travel abroad. But PalmOne isn't showing either of these on its web site, even for backordering. I'm surprised that Palm would inform retailers about such a hot item without offering it directly to customers, as well.

It is a new Item and will be hitting the stores shortly after Christmas. I'm also not an independent retailer, I should know of new items before they do.

How did you find out about it?

Hi all,

With no intention to spam, BoxWave's miniSync and wall charger combo will definitely work with you.

Best wishes,

I bought my Palm T|E in Australia and it came with a travel charger... (detachable plugs for different countries).

Model: PSA05R-050
Input: 100-240 Volts
Output: 5.0Volts

It seems to work fine both in Australia & now in the USA. I'm surprised they don't sell this here...
