SL Compatibility with Windows 98

Looking to get a Sony SL Clie to replace a reliable but old Palm III but I only have Windows 98.

The Sony Web site states that Windows 98 Second Edition is required. The Palm branded PDA are listed as being compatible from Windows 95 upwards so I am guessing it is Sony specific software which requires Windows 98.

Has anyone tried an SL with plain Windows 98? Does it try to work or just not install as it detects that you have incompatible software?

Does anyone know what I may miss out on by trying to run the SL Clie with Windows 98?

My daughter is running 98se & ME and it works fine with both her Palm M105 & my Sony clie Sl-10 ( she is only 13 & allready dual boots !!! I'm So Proud !)

We have 4 'puters + four handhelds running in this house.. you get used to OS Compatibility issues around here !!!
